32 Beheaded by Saudi Government
A Saudi man was beheaded in Tabuk on 16th July 2011 after being convicted of sexually assaulting another man's wife.
According to Interior Ministry Adel bin Mohammed Assiri was executed as he entered the man's apartment forcibly and assaulted the man's wife, beating her, taking her naked photos and attempting to rape her.
Including Adel bin Mohammed Assiri they have been 32 people beheaded in Saudi Arabia this year, and 15 people in May only. Based on official and human rights group reports.
In 2009, the number of executions reached 67, compared to 102 in 2008. Rape, murder, apostasy, armed robbery and drug trafficking are all punishable by death under Saudi Arabia's strict interpretation of Islamic sharia law.
